"Dhaman" issues 3 databases of FDI and investment climate indicators in Arab countries for 2024

The Corporation issued three databases of FDI and investment climate indicators in Arab countries for 2024, monitoring various investment climate components in Arab countries during 2023 as follows:

1. Database of investment climate indicators in Arab countries - 2023

• It contains 23 tables to monitor Arab rankings in around 190 international indicators of sovereign assessment, country risk measurement, economic performance, legislative environment and production elements.
• It relies upon over 30 international sources, including credit rating agencies, International Monetary Fund (IMF), UNCTAD, World Bank, World Energy Council, UN Development Program, Transparency International and others.
• The Arab countries were classified from best to worst in international indicators and their sub-components so as to easily and accurately illustrate the changes in a country's position in investment climate-related indicators.
• Dhaman used the green color method (green for the best performance, yellow for medium performance and red for weak performance) in order to make it easy to read and compare results.

2. Database of FDI flows and stocks in Arab countries – 2023

• It contains 7 tables to monitor FDI flows and stocks in Arab countries during 2022 and 2023, in addition to net cross-border mergers and acquisitions in the Arab region during the period.
• It totally relies upon the UNCTAT’s database to monitor actual FDI inflows into Arab countries and FDI outflows from them during 2023, and to compare them with 2022’s figures.

3. Database of FDI projects in Arab countries – 2023

• It contains 19 tables and monitors FDI and inter-Arab investment projects in Arab countries during 2023.
• It monitors four main indicators: number of projects, Capex, number of investment companies and number of new jobs, indicators of average Capex and average project jobs and geographical and sectoral distribution of projects implemented during 2023.
• It is basically based on the database of the fDi Markets.
